Can Acne Antibiotic Fight HIV?

Can Acne Antibiotic Fight HIV?Although no cure is available for HIV yet a latest research proved that ordinary acne antibiotics like minocycline can be used as fighting weapon against this particular virus. Yes that is true. Scientists from John Hopkins University, USA have claimed to have discovered that minocycline successfully beleaguered immune cells which are infected by virus and thus hinder from further replicating.

As per the latest published research during the Journal of Infectious Diseases of April edition, it is clearly mentioned that minocycline can recover the current treatment regimens for the HIV infected patients provided you use it with a combination of HAART, literally means, Highly Active Anti Retroviral Therapy.

The main advantage of using minocycline is that it has been found empirically that in the presence of this antibiotic, the virus seems to be slightly unable to make drug resistance as minocycline mainly focuses on cellular pathways and not viral proteins as proclaimed by Professor Janice Clements.

So a lethal combination of HAART, which is well known for suppressing the action of HIV to a large extent, and minocycline can give us a new arm to defend ourselves from this deadly disease. Minocycline is believed to reduce the potential of the virus to appear from the latent contaminated T cells and thus prevents the virus from spreading in other parts of the body as explained by fellow researcher Gregory Szeto. So hopefully with this weapon we can fight and one day may even win over this disease…
